The Transvaal Colony was a British colony in Southern Africa from 1877 to 1881 and from 1902 to 1910. Both times the colony was created by the annexation of the independent South African Republic (Transvaal).

First annexation
The first annexation of the Transvaal took place in 1877 under the state presidency of Thomas François Burgers. Paul Kruger then led massive protest rallies that led to the declaration of independence in 1880. After the First Boer War was won by the Boers, the Transvaal regained its independence as the South African Republic.
